India: A cultural decline or revival?

In part one of this series of interviews with Professor Bharat Gupt, we discussed his personal journey as an academician and a sadhaka. In this part of our conversation, we focus on the ideas from his book, “India: A cultural decline or revival?”. The book is divided into six sections: Eka, Kula, Grama, Janapada, Prithvi and Atman, and it is a powerful critique of contemporary Indian society as well as the policies adopted by the Indian state after the country gained freedom from the colonial rule. Bharat Gupt offers a lucid analysis of each of the chosen topics and presents a pragmatic way forward out of many societal issues that have held back the release of India’s true potential in the twenty-first century.
